Penny Bailer and City Year are Detroit’s magic bullets targeting our young kids in trouble and placing them on the right track for productive lives.
There are two Corps members for every child in trouble. The Corps instills companionship, concern and caring in these children. Everyday they demonstrate the values of learning, love, and giving back to the community.
This changes the lives of both the students and the Corps members. It’s a win-win situation for all of those involved. And especially for our great city.
Signature Red Jackets are worn by Corps members, and awarded to people in the community who have dedicated themselves to improving Detroit’s educational system. They are surely the most coveted fashion symbol in the community.
We need City Year in ALL of our city schools.
Spot a Red Jacket and post the photo on our Facebook page.
